Here at TFC, our foundation and all that we believe about hope and healing comes directly from our faith. God’s greatest gift: Jesus. During this time of the year, it gives us a minute to sit, rest, and reflect on what the true meaning of Christmas is. It is not about shopping, gifts, toys, and big family celebrations. It is about how God sent Jesus to be the Savior of the world. The Savior for me and the Savior for you.
Jesus came in the form of a baby at Christmas. The Bible tells us that He would be found wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger. Our perfect Savior, the sacrificial lamb, came from Heaven to Earth to save each of us. This is the true meaning of Christmas. The Good News. God sent his one and only son to save us from our sins. Christmas is not a myth or a tradition; it is the reality for you and me.
So take this moment to sit and reflect, if you have received the best gift ever. I am not saying if you know “about” Jesus, but have you really “received” Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.
The Bible tells us in Romans, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” God made us to be in a relationship with him, but each and every one of us have fallen short. We sin, which leads to a separation between us and God. There is no amount of “good enough” that can repair this relationship.
But the Good News is that Jesus came to fix what we couldn’t. God didn’t leave us stuck, He sent Jesus. “For God so loved the world that he sent his one and only Son.” And “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” But it didn’t stop there. Jesus took our place on the cross and defeated Satan, sin, death, and hell. Jesus didn’t just die for you, He died INSTEAD of you. Instead of asking us to earn our way back, God gave us what we needed most. Jesus!
So as you are reading this today, if you feel unworthy or too far from Jesus, KNOW you aren’t! Friend, Jesus loves you so much he died in your place! Salvation is a gift. The best gift! A true gift is free to the receiver, but costly to the giver. Ephesians tells us, “It is by grace you have been saved through faith.” What a gift! You don’t work for it, you receive it. Jesus took the cost.
And here comes your part. When a gift is given to you, you don’t sit there and look at it. Walk past it. Leave it out for someone else to take. No, when you are given a gift, you pick it up. You cherish it. You accept it. This gift from Jesus gives us forgiveness and a new life. The Bible tells us in Romans, “If you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart, then you will be saved.” You, my friend, can receive the best gift ever this Christmas!
The gospel is that God gave His best gift, Jesus, to save us. When we receive Him, we are forgiven, made new, and invited to live the rest of our lives following Him. We do all we do for the glory of God!
When you come to this office and are looking for hope and healing. Know our hope, and our healing, comes from our greatest gift ever. Jesus!
