Kenny: From Always on the Go to Calm, Connected Moments

Life felt heavy and exhausting for Kenny and his family.

Kenny is non-speaking and diagnosed with autism, and he was constantly in overdrive. He struggled to focus, had endless energy, and needed close supervision all throughout the day because he struggled with elopement.

Because she's an incredible parent, Kenny’s mom tried everything she could to help him. Supplements. Therapies. Different approaches. She advocated, researched, and kept pushing forward, hoping something would finally ease his struggles. And despite all of that effort, nothing was truly working. She felt stuck and frustrated, but she kept searching for answers.

Kenny's mom was hopeful when he began care at TFC, but she also wasn't sure how it was going to go. She was amazed that within his first week of care, she noticed something different: Kenny became calmer. He was able to sit and watch a movie. He started listening to directions and even helping when asked.

Those changes may sound small to some, but to Kenny's family, they were HUGE. They were the first signs that his body was finally beginning to calm and regulate the way it was designed to. That's when the spark of Mom's hope returned.

As Kenny's body has continued to heal, those small shifts have continued to build. Kenny listens and responds more quickly. He is focusing better, following directions, and doing so well at school that his family felt confident stopping his medication.

He is sharing with his sister, sitting better on the bus, and staying more regulated throughout the day. Even his teachers have noticed changes! Kenny’s body is showing everyone what it can do when given the right support.

We are incredibly grateful to walk alongside Kenny and his family. His mom never stopped believing in him, and his body did the rest. We are honored to serve and support him as he continues to grow! Way to go Kenny!
