From Torticollis Diagnosis to Thriving Milestones

Carolyn experienced an intense entrance into the world. When she was born, her arm was alongside her head, causing a lot of tension. Her family immediately noticed that the right side of her head was flat. In the first few days after her birth, Carolyn was struggling with breastfeeding and wouldn’t turn her head to the left. It was so hard for all of them to watch Carolyn struggle. When the family expressed their concern, they were told it was just a pinched nerve.

The explanation didn’t sit well with her parents; so they brought Carolyn to TFC. Dr. Adam talked with Mom and Dad about how torticollis from nervous system stress was likely what was affecting Carolyn, and assured them that we could help her.

She had her first adjustment with us at just 3 days old, and her family noticed improvements in breastfeeding right away. It was easier for her to nurse, and she seemed more comfortable! They also noticed improvements in head movements over the next couple of weeks.

When she was two months old, her pediatrician said she would most likely need to be fitted for a helmet. But her parents knew better! Mom’s gut didn’t agree with this, and she already knew they were in great hands with Dr. Adam. By continuing chiropractic care, her family was able to avoid a helmet and other unnecessary interventions!
